This course develops the concepts and processes for storing, handling, and transporting dangerous goods. Learners develop the knowledge and skills to collect and interpret all relevant information on dangerous goods so they can be stored, handled, and transported in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements. Learners also prepare required documentation and communicate mandatory information to government authorities, carriers, and clients.

  • Classification of Dangerous Goods.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Safety Marks: Labels, Placards & Markings.
  • Packaging & Means of Containment.
  • Dangerous Goods Documentation.
  • DG Compatibility, Segregation, Handling & Securement.
  • Transportation Modes & Multimodal Shipments.
  • Training Requirements & Employer Responsibilities.
  • Emergency Response, ERG & ERAP.
  • Incident Reporting, Accidents & Enforcement.
  • Exemptions & Certificates of Equivalency.
  • Specialized Transport & High‑Risk Dangerous Goods.

Course pre-requisite:
Learners are expected to have a basic understanding of supply chain and logistics processes prior to registering for this course.

Eligibility Requirements

You are eligible to take these courses if you live and work in the province of Québec, and you are:

  • Currently working in the private sector;
  • self-employed;
  • a seasonal worker on a temporary layoff;
  • looking to upgrade your skills to maintain your job.

You are not eligible to take these courses if you are:

  • employed in the public or para-public sector;
  • a student;
  • unemployed and/or receiving unemployment insurance or welfare;
  • receiving CSST (worker’s compensation) or from the SAAQ.
  • reorienting your career or are interested in taking a personal interest course.

Maximum of two (2) simultaneous courses per person.
Maximum of three (3) employees per place of employment.
