Business and Industry Services, a division of the Continuing Education department, offers a variety of professional development courses, subsidized by the Government du Québec and available at a cost of $5 per hour*. The courses are delivered online by qualified instructors, typically one evening per week in the Fall and Winter semesters.

Eligibility requirements

In compliance with the rules and regulations of the Gouvernement du Québec these courses are intended for:

  • Employed workers residing in any region of Quebec;
  • Self-employed individuals;
  • Employment Insurance claimants who meet the following conditions:

An unemployed person is defined as someone who is close to the labor market and has high employability potential. They are able to return to work quickly. The skills developed through the training program must be directly related to their field of employment (most recent job, target job, or field of study). The institution must ensure that this person’s enrollment will not disrupt the homogeneity of the group by verifying that they possess the necessary prior learning.

In addition, workers participating in continuing education are not eligible for income support, namely the employment assistance allowance and reimbursement of additional expenses

*Services Québec prioritizes workers from SMEs with 6 to 99 employees.

Exclusions:

Employees of the following organizations and businesses are not eligible:

  • Municipal and paramunicipal administrations;
  • Provincial and federal parapublic organizations;
  • Private and public educational institutions;
  • CIUSSS, CISSS, CHSLD (unionized and non-unionized), GMF, and other organizations within the health and social services network;
  • Ministries and agencies of the Government of Quebec subject to Chapter III of the Public Administration Act and whose staff are appointed under the Quebec Public Service Act;
  • Federal government ministries and agencies subject to the Public Service Employment Act;
  • Political parties or associations.

Please note:

  • A maximum of two (2) simultaneous courses per person.
  • A maximum of three (3) employees per workplace.
  • Registration closes 10 business days before the start of the training.
