The purpose of this bootcamp is to provide a comprehensive understanding of multicasting in Cisco networks. Multicasting is a technique used to efficiently distribute data to multiple recipients in a network, enabling effective delivery of multimedia content, real-time applications, and group communication.

The course outline covers various aspects of multicasting in Cisco networks, starting with an introduction to multicast IP addresses and mapping them to MAC addresses. It then delves into the concepts and configuration of different versions of the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP), including IGMPv1, IGMPv2, and IGMPv3. The limitations of IGMPv1 and the benefits of IGMPv2 are also discussed.

Course pre-requisite:
Learners are expected to have a good understanding of Networking Fundamentals prior to registering for this course.

You are not eligible to take these courses if you are:

  • employed in the public or para-public sector;
  • a student;
  • unemployed and/or receiving unemployment insurance or welfare;
  • receiving CSST (worker’s compensation) or from the SAAQ.
  • reorienting your career or are interested in taking a personal interest course.
