Recognition of Acquired Competencies (RAC)

Champlain’s RAC services can help individuals obtain an AEC (Attestation d’études collégiales) by assessing their current competencies, and providing them with training for the ones they are lacking

Duration: 4 to 12 months

Duration varies according to each candidate’s experience and availability.

Schedule: Seminars and activities take place on specific Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

 

Competencies

The Specialist in Transportation and Logistics AEC (LCA.DS) is made of 23 competencies. To receive your AEC, you will have to be evaluated for all competencies:

  • AP72/73 Perform the purchase and sale of logistics services/ Supervise personnel
  • AP31/32 Jobs & geography in transportation & logistics
  • AP75 Business communication
  • AP34 Français
  • AP67 Purchasing & inventory control
  • AP35 Manage road transport
  • AP33/36 North american transportation
  • AP68/38 International transport management
  • AP39/40/76 Warehouse management
  • AP79 Math & Accounting for T&L
  • AP70/71 Import-export processes
  • AP37 Process information and data using spreadsheet software in transportation and logistics
  • 00NE/AP78 Supply chain management / environmental issues and innovations in T&L
  • AP69 Transporting, storing and handling dangerous goods & specialized transports
  • AP74 Job/internship

Admission Requirements

There are ministerial requirements and RAC specific requirements.

Ministerial Requirements

Applicants must have a Secondary V diploma or equivalent or have acquired knowledge and skills deemed sufficient by the College for potential success in the program. More specifically, they must show proof of:

  • A Diploma of High School Studies OR
  • A College Diploma or a University Degree OR
  • A partial high school program, coupled with a recommendation from a current or former employer that they would benefit from pursuing their education at the post-secondary level.

AND

The applicant must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have interrupted studying full-time for at least two consecutive terms or one school year OR
  • Be covered under an agreement between the college and an employer, or be benefiting from a government program OR
  • Have completed at least one year of post-secondary studies over a period of one year or more OR
  • Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS/DEP).

RAC Specific Requirements

  • RAC candidates should have significant work or personal experience (typically, a total of 2 years or more) in the field of a given program.
  • RAC candidates can have prior experience in the field from a variety of sources (work, volunteering, personal study, etc.).
  • RAC candidates need to be self-motivated and make time for evaluations and partial training when needed.

Cost

Maximum $575*

*There are no additional fees to use online resources, receive support from content specialists, or to attend seminars and work sessions. Maximum cost is only applicable to Quebec residents.

The fees for International Students and Non-Residents of Quebec are those listed here for Part-time students: Continuing Education Costs – Champlain College – Saint Lambert. The total number of hours of the Specialist in Transportation and Logistics program to calculate the cost is 1185 hours.

Further Details

To take advantage of the RAC process, candidates must pay certain fees. The fees are based on the number of evaluations that a Quebec resident candidate has to complete, and may vary from one person to another.

  • $30 admission fee (non-refundable)
  • $45 for a file analysis (non-refundable)
  • $40 per competency (up to a maximum of $500)

Maximum total: $575

Please note that the fees above include all activities related to the RAC services. No additional fees have to be paid to:

  • Attend a seminar on a specific topic
  • Consult the online resources
  • Participate in job preparation activities
  • Participate in expert-led group activities

An additional $45 file analysis fee will apply if a candidate desires to change program.
