Founded in 1998 and acquired by Richard Gervais in 2005, Axxess International is an International logistic provider in the freight Forwarding and Customs Brokerage industry.
The students in Group 12 of the Transportation Logistics program at Champlain College Saint-Lambert visited the company February 11 as part of their Import-Export Processes course.
“Thanks to Gabriel Gervais, executive vice-president and his team for a lively, for an informative and fun visit. There wasn’t a question they couldn’t answer!” said Michael Laughman, the teacher of the Import-Export Processes course. “Champlain College and Axxess International, two Quebec success stories!’’
Students went through the full import workflow, including how corrections and adjustments are managed in the Customs Accounting Declaration (CAD), and how CARM platform supports customs operations in Canada.
On the export side, they explored the air transportation process and watched a live demonstration of the CERS system.
The visit ended with an engaging Q&A session with the company owner followed by an office tour introducing each department and its role in daily operations.
“The experience was both inspiring and highly informative. I truly appreciate the time the Axxess team dedicated to us’,’ said student Marta Pinho.
Teacher Tanitsa Tsvetkova, who organized this field trip, concluded: “This experience helped students connect classroom learning to real systems, real decisions, and real careers—strengthening both their confidence and their job readiness in the logistics field.”
